I've gone down from 240 to 196 and know im ready to get down to the 140's. So far i havent had loose skin.

If you weigh 196 lbs and you loose weight over the course of 5 months down to 130-140 will there be loose skin
if you are over 30 it is likely, but may not always happen just depends on your heritage
Reply:A weight lotss of 100 pounds may leave some loose skin, how much would mainly depend on your skin's elasticity.
Reply:It's very possible. The recommendation for weight loss is approximately 1 pound a week, more than that and you run the risk of sagging skin. Exercise will help keep things tight to a degree though.
Reply:Loosing weight that quickly is not very healthy. There is a possibility of some loose skin, but a comprimised immune system or the conditioning of ones body to more adequately store fat are much greater concerns. 1-2 lbs. a week or 10% over a 6 month period are the recomended guidlines for weightloss.
Reply:Yes it is possible, since you are a male why don't you you bulk up with muscles instead. But please remember that muscle weighs more than fat, but muscle burns fat faster. Just don't not lose weight too fast it is not health and you might just gain it all back. Do it healthy with exercise and I think you would be pleased. I weight 230 and dropped down to 135 and I did not have lose skin, but I worked out often. Good Luck!!

Lorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-68033252238094746502010-04-24T00:28:00.000-07:002010-04-24T00:28:17.331-07:00When losing a lot of weight how to avoid loose skin?I am starting some type of a weight loss plan that I can live with- not sure just what yet. I do know that I am giving myself until February 2009 to hopefully see my end results- or VERY close to them. I have a lot of weight to lose- based on the BMI I need to lose around 155 pounds... so around 11-12 pounds a month on average. On major concern I have is I am wanting to avoid the extreme loose skin that I see a lot of people have. I am young (25) and hope that might help somehow. What can I do to avoid this? Also, any really great exercises I can do? I have like NO time, I work 2 jobs and live in a town that has no fitness centers- a town of about 800- closest city is almost an hour away, so I will not buy a membership. I will feel embarrassed walking around town, as people will watch- but I need to suck it up I guess. Anything I can do in the house that is awesome??? Any words of wisdom from someone who has done this?? Anything will help! Thank you!

When losing a lot of weight how to avoid loose skin?
All I know is if you lose it slowly like 2 pounds a week and do a little bit of strength training or light weights to tone up or tighten your skin you should have no problem with loose skin.
Reply:i heard eating soy increases the elasticity in your skin. you should eat some soy milk, soy bars, and tofu...maybe some lotion with soy extract in it. la weight loss has really good bars and the calories aren't that bad.

Lorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-87916419645909740492010-04-24T00:27:00.003-07:002010-04-24T00:27:59.665-07:00Is there a way to get insurance to pay for loose skin removal? If I lost 150 lbs and am now left with some unsightly loose skin. The receiving charity may pay for the removal, since you will be donating the skin to their patients.
Reply:I am not aware of any insurance loophole for removal of loose skin. A surgery to remove loose skin would be under the heading of "cosmetic" surgery.

If you could somehow prove that having that loose skin is a tangible, omnipresent threat to your long-term health, then you may be able to finagle your insurance to pay for the surgery. I recently lost weight and need helpThe loose skin is not over significant but it is in the areas of my stomache, thighs, and behind. I have lost 105 pounds two years ago and no amount of exercises have helped so far. I am not looking for a super fast solution but something that would at least give me results where I don't have skin hanging or pouches of it. It looks real ugly and nasty, I just would like firmer, tighter skin in these areas so I can at least enjoy some of the freedom of having lost the weight and keeping it off. I have tried over the counter lotions before and do not work either, My doctor doesn't know of any product out their that would help and I would like to avoid surgery at all costs. Please help me with any suggestions or names of products that someone may have tried and has had success with. Thank you for any assistance with this problem of mine.

I am lookig for information on products they may help shrink loose skin. However it WONT remove the EXCESS SKIN like a plastic surgery will but it will tighten skin. THE COSTS 2 to 4 thousand dollars.
Reply:What you need is liposculpture -which is done to remove excess skin after massive weight loss. You can get liposculpture in India.Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible.

As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got her breast reduction/liposculpture/buttoc... lift surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare.she is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise fore this forerunners healthcare company.i personally have seen the wondeful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company.hope this helps

Source(s):

http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com

fuchsiaLorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-30181411745735185432010-04-24T00:26:00.003-07:002010-04-24T00:26:57.052-07:00How do I get rid of cellulite and loose skin?I've recently lost about 50lbs and my weight is now considered normal yet I still have quite a bit of fat around my butt and hips including cellulite. Also, my skin is a little loose in some places. I drink plenty of water and I've recently started exercising. I was just wondering what types of exercises would improve my condition. Currently, I alternate between the treadmill, elliptical, and stair thingy. Does anyone else have this problem? Please help!

How do I get rid of cellulite and loose skin?
Go to GNC or any other nutrition store and ask for a supplement called X-Pel. If you use mederma on the stretch marks they may lighten a little. I have tried everything shy of a tummy tuck/boob job. They were bright purple and now a light silver color. (almost 2 years old now). As far as the skin sag... That is nature honey. It sucks and depressing but it is the price for bearing children! don't get too down, most women who breast feed/bear children have the same probs. we are all in the same sagging boat!
Reply:Stretch marks are forever and the loose skin, even with exercise wont go away. I've heard plastic surgery is the best option to control the loose skin and get your breasts to appear as they were before. I've also read that Retinol can make the appearance of strech marks lighter, so you make want to speak to your dermatologist about that.
Reply:I have the same problem..just had baby #2, gained 50+ pounds with both of them. I use this awesome skin conditioning oil and rejuvenating cream and it has been working! Loose skin--only thing you can do is exercise and hope for the best, but the stretch marks you can control! Good luck!
Reply:sweetheart i know what you mean.. i went from a size A to a D and am at a B cup now.. and it looks horrible. you really cant do anythin about the loose skin... but i used maderma... its and ointnment you can puchase at any drug store. and its kind of expensive for a little bottle but its a miricle on strech marks.. it dosent make them go away but they basicly turn clear so you can hardly see them... but good luck and i wish you the best.....
Reply:Cocoa butter is used for both preventing stretch marks and treating them. If the weight gain is due to pregnancy, the cocoa butter should be rubbed daily on the affected area. Cocoa butter should be applied to the skin soon after a warm water bath, when the pores are open and the cocoa butter is easily absorbed. Shea butter may also be used instead of cocoa butter. I'm told that you always have the loose skin and the ones who don't appear to have it, had some type of plastic surgery. Is this true?

Has anyone lost a lot of weight and not had really loose skin afterward?
I takes a few years for the skin to go back. If you have stretch marks, it doesn't go back all the way. I was lucky and did not have stretch marks.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.

1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.

2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).

3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

http://www.calorieking.com

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. I've let my snapper go dormant each winter for 32 years. He doesn't eat much until the weather warms up. Don't toss the meat or fish. If you are worried about freezer burn (your turtle won't care), freeze the food, put it in a small plastic bag with water, and then freeze it again. There might be an expiration date on the package but turtles can't read.
Reply:He is shedding skin its what turtles do. the process is called sloughing. I've gained weight since my last child but a few years back when I had a job involving a lot of physical exercise, I returned to my original weight. The only thing you can firm up is the underlying muscle, and women have different elasticity in their skin. Then one day you decide to crash diet and lose 100 lbs. Guess what. Whereas what you gained is all fat, what you lost is in the form of fat AND muscle. It is impossible to lose fat without losing muscle. So, say you lost 70 lbs of fat and 30 lbs of muscle . You are still carrying around 30 extra pounds of fat AND you have less muscle to support it. This is what is called loose skin, but it is actually fat.

The answer is to keep losing the weight with diet and cardio to keep losing but also do some weight lifting to build your muscle back.
Reply:No, sorry. Tummy tuck is the only way.
Reply:you can try, exercise and lots of fluids might help the skin rebound. It really depends on how old you are and how far the skin was stretched in the first place as to whether or not it can rebound.
Reply:you can try creams and lotions first but aside from that tummy tuck is the only way to do it.

Lorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-28660798811533401082010-04-24T00:24:00.000-07:002010-04-24T00:24:00.762-07:00How long to wait to do situps? With my second....hes 18 now and I still have Jelly Belly but now I call it Middle age spread!!! lol
Reply:The loose skin doesnt go away. Your stomach can become flat again, but the skin is stretch and really nothing but a tummy tuck is gonna help. Ive never found anything that will make it better or neither have I read anything that says it will get better.
Reply:Always follow your doctors advice.

Loose skin will depend on alot on how elastic your skin is naturally, how stretched out it got and how many stretch marks you have. Stretch marks are like emergency skin and don't shrink.

Always follow your doctors advice, but doing sets of 10 mini-crunches a few times a day or laying on the floor and holding your feet 3" off the ground for 15-20 seconds a few times a day should be safe.

If you're looking for a "new mommy" weight loss support group we've got one at Kimkins. The fat pad on your stomach will get smaller as you lose weight. And talk to your OB about exercising but your body will let you know when you have done too much physical activity.
Reply:Sit-ups and crunches are potentially damaging to pregnant or post-partum abdominal muscles. In most women they separate down the middle during the pregnancy, and it takes time for them to move back together (up to a year for some women). Stressing these muscles while they are still separated can cause damage to them that will prevent them from ever moving back together. So, avoid ab exercises for a while. Better safe than sorry.

Lorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-70969128433449979582010-04-24T00:23:00.002-07:002010-04-24T00:23:44.662-07:00What kind of suregry gets rid of loose skin?again I'm taking my pervious question further...What kind of surgery would get rid of my loose skin and whats the average price for the procedure?

What kind of suregry gets rid of loose skin?
Most plastic surgeons would perform a skin excision to remove the lose skin and tighten things up.

Cost varies based on how much skin you want removed.
Reply:Can you edit your question and let us know where this skin is at?
Reply:Consult a skin specialist please.
Reply:Plastic surgeons remove loose skin. Under the skin, is still a considerable amount of fat....if it were infact all skin, it would be as thin as sheets like your eye lids. You still need to loose the fat, thats all.
Reply:You really need to be looking for a plastic surgeon now to help you to decide that but honestly my best guess would be wait a few more months until you get down to your goal weight so there is not a bunch more skin you could have had taken off but couldn't at the time and have to go through surgery again but can't have the same place done again for awhile and have to wait even longer. Plus its probally cheeper in the long run to do it all at once.
Reply:Frankly, so many people yo-yo that you should keep it off a least a year before an operation. It's kind of Freudian, isn't it, that you said you want to get to 250 instead of 150, did you notice that? Check out the National Weight Control Registry for information on keeping it off.

Lorenzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10203447121233903055noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3391522086942281887.post-62036470201549095372010-04-24T00:22:00.002-07:002010-04-24T00:22:44.849-07:00How do I get rid of saggy/loose skin under my eyes??I had surgery to remove the fat under my eyes from my puffiness, but now the skin is loose!! Lower bleph. These creams and crap are useless. All you'll do is spend money and be unhappy with the results, unless of course you convince yourself to believe it's working.

Botox paralyzes muscle, and you don't really want to do that to your lower eyelid.

Restylane is a filler, and I'm pretty sure is not suggested for under eyes. Think about it, if you use a filler under your eyes on saggy skin it'll just puff it up and make it look worse. The loose skin has to be removed.

Sounds like that doctor removed the fat but never removed the excess skin, WHICH BY THE WAY go hand in hand when you do lower eyelid surgery. Go back there and tell him what the problem is. After getting your lower eyelids done there should be no saggy anything. All he did was remove the fat that was keeping the rest of the eyelid not saggy.
Reply:This may sound stupid, but it has worked for me...

Try Preparation H. It tightens up the skin.
Reply:Try an eye cream. They have something in them that firms up the skin. Clinique's eye cream is really nice and I recommend that one, but there could be something out there that's more suitable to your situation. Sorry, I can't recommend anything else!
Reply:Try Artistry's Eye Cream and/or their Vitamin C and Wild Yam Treatment. Both are amazing products and work great. All of their products are completely guarenteed to work or they will give you a full refund of your money. The Vitamin C and Wild Yam treatment is meant to be an at home alternative to injections and it is really awesome. You are taking the weight off slowly and this is the safest and best way to lose weight. Try to exercise 3 times a week just to keep yourself in shape. If you are in school and take a gym class then that should take care of the exercise.
Reply:YEA
Reply:no not only 10 pounds
Reply:Nope. Also, if you exercise, your skin will be tight.
Reply:not unless you only weigh 20 lbs to begin with and you're over 75 years old.....
Reply:No, you won't. Loose skin only occurs after really extreme weight loss or if you are old. Young people have greater elasticity to their skin, so it can spring back much easier. Use a firming moisturizer if necessary. HOW MANY WEEKS OR MONTHS DOES IT TAKE FOR IT TO TIGHTEN UP? also, how can i speed it up so the skin tightens and adjust faster?

How long can it take for extra or loose skin to tighten up?
If the exercises aren't doing it then your only option would be through surgery to have the excess removed. Whenever you lose weight too quickly the skin is a problem. Exercises work on the muscles but not the skin. Sorry if this doesn't help or give you a possible option. Good luck and congrats on the weight loss! :)
Reply:So many people mislead over this topic. There is only one solution to extra skin...that is to have it removed via cosmetic surgery.

I think that would be great for you. You already demonstrated you have the drive and capability to stay healthy. It will never go away through diet and exercise.
Reply:It probably won't get any better without plastic surgery - that kinda sucks, but that is the way it is. Losing weight really fast causes that. You gotta drink LOTS of water if you are losing weight to help your skin stay elastic.
Reply:It will snap back to some degree, but everyone's skin has different elasticity. Most likely you will still have saggy skin, no matter how much you diet or exercise.
