Loose Skin after Liposuction?

I am 23, I had liposuction back when I was 18 on my stomach area. After healing, I was left with loose skin around my waist, its kinda weird cause its pretty flat when Im standing, but buldges out when Im sitting. My skin had already stretched a bit when I was overweight, but I think the skin also didnt heal property and tight after the surgery. I think this is common and the reason why people go back for a tummy tuck. I really really dont want any more plastic surgery or the big scar that comes with a tummy tuck, has anyone ever heard of stories of people who work out/ do sit-ups like crazy and tighten up this area naturally without a tummy tuck???

Loose Skin after Liposuction?
Since you were previously overweight your skin has probably lost it's elasticity which is why no matter how many crunches you do will fix that.

I've had an abdominoplasty and have kept my bodyfat % below 13% for over 5 yrs and my skin has not regained its firmness. My stomach is completely flat and I even have a great set of abs but when I sit the skin still hangs slightly.
Reply:try to get an appointment to have the loose skin removed(but that might cost another couple of thousands of dollars.)
Reply:no you need to understand there is no quick fix. You still need to exercise to the loose the excess skin. Why waste more money when you can get off your *** and lose the skin yourself.

Loose skin and stretch marks when losing weight?

I heard that if you lose a lot of weight quickly, you can end up with loose skin. I know that this happens with obese people who lose weight via some surgery, but can this happen if a person of normal weight loses weight? I'm planning to lose about 40 pounds in the next four months, and I'm just shy of being overweight according to my BMI. I also heard I can get stretch marks if I lose weight. Is this true? Can I do anything to prevent myself from getting loose skin or stretch marks?

Thanks.

Loose skin and stretch marks when losing weight?
If you are 19 your skin still has a great deal of elasticity. Four months is a healthy period of time to work off the weight. You will be fine...Just work out.
Reply:From what I understand rapid weight gain is what causes stretch marks. Just from puberty and growing quickly I got stretch marks, not really from weight gain or loss...so it's different for everyone. Some people are more prone to stretch marks than others, I have no idea why...As for loose skin, you probably won't notice any lose skin because your still young and because you don't have much weight to lose, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Reply:Being 19, your skin is healthier and has more elasticity. So if you healthfully lose weight: No surgery, no dietary supplements (pills), and no quick fix weight loss; then you should not have flabby skin. It should stick to your body as you lose it. There are lotions that prevent stretch marks, but I've never heard of getting them losing weight.
Reply:it depends, like if u been overwieght for a long time ur skin might not shrink to normal, but i think 40 pounds in 4 months, u should be alright, just keep ur skin hydrated with lotions that will help, and stretch marks while losing wieght that wont happen, if u do get some loose skin u can get a thermage treatment, it will tigthen lose skin, hope this helps
Reply:Take preventive care. Massaging serves as an excellent home remedy for areas prone to stretch marks. You can either use olive oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin E oil or cod liver oil for the purpose of massage. Check out http://useinfo-stretchmarks.blogspot.com... for more useful info.
Reply:well im 20 and i got had gotten stretch marks on my sides from working out and growing.. I had like 3 lines on each side, i tried this revitol stretch cream it helped fade them! the cream also prevents stretch marks from comming also, so if u are worried they will come just apply the cream on the spots u dont want them - legs - back of arms - sides- and sides of breasts for women.. this review site has the top 3 stretch prevention products.. gl :)
Reply:Stretch marks only occur when a person gains more weight because the skin is being stretched out. Lose skins can be eliminated through rigid toning work outs, so you don't have to be afraid about. Eat anything in moderation and exercise a lot.

Reduce loose skin?

I used to be fat when i was a kid and now im skinny. Cause of that i have loose skin every where. I do weight training and theres not much detail cause of the loose skin.. Is there a way i can reduce the loose skin?

Reduce loose skin?
yes. yoga. definitely tightens and tones your entire body. but you gotta be patient, it'll take time for results (maybe 3 months if you're faithful with the practice) but i'm telling you, they'll be using your profile for coins thereafter.
Reply:surgery is the only way, unfortunately. skin loses it's elasticity over time, and won't necessarily snap back.

Loose skin at age 15 and losing weight?

Hi! I'm Gerald. Well I weighed about 245 lbs. a month ago, and being bulimic got me down to 218. Yes, bulimia is bad i'll get a torn up throat (btw i found a way to prevent that), it'll eat my muscles, blah blah blah. Don't care lol. um but anyways I'm slightly worried about the whole loose skin thing....its a little loose now but i need to know if there are like certain ways to prevent it. (and don't give me a smart-*** answer like stop being bulimic) :)

Loose skin at age 15 and losing weight?
The loose skin is from losing weight too quickly probably. If you lose more than the healthy # of pounds (like 2-3) per week, then you have a bigger chance of getting loose skin like that. Not everyone gets it even if they lose weight, some people get nothing or some get stretch marks instead. I think its partly genetic. Some people will get loose skin even if they lose weight slowly, but its less likely. In terms of not getting it I'm not sure- maybe try eating more healthy oils and drinking more water. Stuff like fish oil, flax oil are supposed to be good for your skin? Take your vitamins too.

Really though, my advice is to get some help for your bulimia and learn to lose weight in a more healthy manner. It will also be much more effective in keeping the weight off in the long term. I'm not trying to be a smart ***, bulimia is really dangerous. There is no way to prevent it tearing up your throat or esophagus (esophageal cancer isn't fun, nor is it curable), and it'll also screw up your teeth and your heart, etc. I guess you probably know most of that but I'm going to say it anyway.
Reply:ummm........ well you're loosing the weight too fast..... that's why it's loose...... and if you do some exercise.... like push-ups, sit-ups, walking, etc. it will help build up muscle.... which will help prevent loose skin.... but i found this site.....

PLEASE PLEASE help me cause my skin was the best possesion of my life.PLEASE HELP !!!!

Little loose skin after weight loss but dont want surgery plz suggest excersize?
I'm no expert on the subject, but I was an exercise science major in my undergraduate studies and can say that your skin sometimes lags behind a bit. Skin is ellastic and before it was stretched from excess body weight (fat accumulated between your skin and your muscles). Now some of that fat is gone and your skin is not stretched as much anymore. It should firm back up with a little time. You've just lost a lot of weight in a short period of time and your body is playing catch up!

Two things you can do to try to speed that up are:

-Make sure you are hydrated- drink water! It is the best thing you can do for your skin. Lotion is a good idea as well. How to tell if you are properly hydrated? Two ways (both dealing with the bathroom) first off- what color is your pee? It should be tinted yellow--- but not actually yellow. If it is yellow drink more water. Also, how often do you have to go? If looking at your pee makes you gag, just count how many times you go to the bathroom to pee in a day. If you only have to go 2-5 times a day (24 hours) you should probably drink more water.

-Start lifting weights- and eat some protein- this will help you gain some muscle weight which will help give you a toned look.

Do these two things and in about 2-3 months you should be able to keep the weight off AND get rid of that loose skin feeling.

Also, thought I don't think this relates to you, most complaints of "loose" skin is actually not loose skin but a bad body composition ratio brought about by crash dieting. Read about it here: http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.ht...

To avoid this "Loose skin" the best thing to do is diet and exercise and lose no more than 1kg per week.

(As you have done-- bravo and good luck!)
Reply:use some weight toning and also ask your doctor or a trainer about your problem and how you can fix it
Reply:read more on some great toning exercises and workouts to help you more on this site
Reply:Add a good weight training routine to your weekly gym visits. And drink lots of water. Your elasticity will return.
Reply:One thing that has help me is a European Body Wrap. I recently lost 50 pounds and found myself in the same situation. Tee body wrap was tremendously effect and I bought a 6 treatments for 300 US dollars.
Reply:Yes I have a solution which you can consider seriously. Am sure it would work if you willing to give it a try.

* Use a reasonable amount of dead sea medicated bath salt (must be of fine texture) and massage lightly in circular motion on the loose skin.

* After you have scrub it, you will feel a sense of heat around the area. If you use normal kind of bath salt, it wont not work.

* Then you apply a layer of dead sea body mud mask on the loose skin area and wrap it with clingwrap (few rounds).

* Leave it on for 10 - 15 minutes for it to dry.

* Unwrap and you will see some red patches on the area. Its a good sign as it has helped you to burn off excess fats and firm up the area.

* Shower off and apply virginal oil to ease away any possible wrinkles.

* Do it daily if you want to solve your problem fast or do it alternate days.

Check out the link on the products I'm referring to. This exclusive range of products works well when you use it together. However you will also see results when you follow closely the tips I have given you.

You can always email them at sales@dewdroplets.com for details.
Reply:As others said already: Drinking water, protein shakes, muscle building.

Something strange I do in addition: I heard a lot about body lotions containing Caffeine, and Algue-Coffeine Bathlotions.

So I add left over coffe and second -brews to the bath water.

The coffe grains in the filter make a really great body scrub - don't worry, it rinses off the body and shower walls without trace.

My 'invention' (boasting, lol) is the best body scrub for elasticity and softness of skin I ever tried.

But don't worry, at your age the skin will become firm sooner or later naturally anyways, if you don't let it get too dry and keep up exercising.

Loose skin from weight loose?

Im 17yrs old and went from weighing 280lbs in May of 2007 to 218lbs as of October 20th, I lost the weight by weight lifting and changing my eating habits and started a healthy eating life style. My fear is that once i get down to my desired weight of 180lbs by the summer that i would have loose skin and flabby skin on my body. I heard if you lose a lot of weight this happens, I also heard that lifting weights helps tighten the skin, so i dont know what to think. Does any one know what the chances are for me to have loose skin after the final 30lbs are dropped? and what i can do to fix this priar to it happening?

only serious answers please

Loose skin from weight loose?
if you dont have loose skin right now then you most likely wont have loose skin in 40 lbs

i think youll be just fine youve already lost 60 lbs

good work man
Reply:yes, it will be looser if you lose the weight quickly, you have to give your body enough time to unstretch.

you can try getting some firming lotion, it might help a little bit.
Reply:I lost about 45 pounds in one summer, and for a while i had loose skin like you are talking about, but then i stayed at that weight and started lifting, and it slowly got tighter, i notice if i gain a little weight in a short amount of time, it starts getting loose again, but yeah just lift and run man and eat right and itll get tight after a while
Reply:if you lose weight at a healthy rate like 2lbs or less a week then you shouldn't worry about it.
Reply:Drink a lot of water, and cut your caffiene. Make sure that you're doing toning/endurance exercizes with weights, as well as strength. Regular massage will help with the tightening and toning of skin as well. Other than that... you can't do a whole lot.
Reply:i believe rapid weight loss is the cause of this. if you maintain a helathy diet and continue your workouts you should be fine. your body will adapt to the weight change with a firmer skin tone.
Reply:I am not 100% sure about the loose skin that would just depends on your body and where it was that you had the weight at. However, I do know that Coco Butter will help with strechmarks and help your skin keep its elactcity. Coco Butter can we found in all kinds of lotions, oils, and rubs. I have found that the Coco butter oil works great!

I just wanted to say Congrats on your great weight loss!! Keep up the good work!
Reply:Your age may be your biggest allie here. Although it is a great deal of weight, you were under 300lbs. combine that fact with your age and your skin should tighten on it's own.

Lifting weights helps in the fact that you are replacing fat with muscle and in turn "filling out" to meet the skin but it probably isn't mandatory. There are exercises you can do to help tighten the skin though. I would do a search on that.

It may take a year or more for your skin to pull in to a normal place but I think in your case it will happen. Now, had you been at say 350lbs. The odds would be against you and you would need to have it surgically removed.
Reply:Well love even at your age you would have to come out of the wall paper to not have loose skin as there is nowhere for it to go once you have lost that much weight. What you want to think about doing when you get to your desired weight is going on a resistance programme and not too much cardiovascular type programme just to tighten up as much as you can by expanding the muscle, but I would say that your best way is to have surgery, maybe you could find out from the nhs if you are entitled to any help when they see that you have tried helping yourself lose the amount that you are planning to, good luck

Loose Skin?

I'm planning on losing alot of weight. The main problem that I am facing is that I hear that if you have a lot of weight to lose, then your skin will begin to sage.

If that is true, what are ways in which i can prevent that from occuring?

Loose Skin?
Well I bet many people going to tell you to lose weight slowly, keep working out and the skin will get tighter. If you're older it's harder. Oh and some might say get surgery. I think you need to keep working out until all the fat is gone from the skin then it will start tightening.

Loose skin?

im 15 about to turn 16 and i lost alot of weight. i lost abot 65 pounds in 6 months and now i got extra skin, but this trainer i know said it alright because my body will grow into it. is this true.

Loose skin?
At your age, yes it is possible you wil grow into it. You've still got height and some "filling out" to do as you finish growing (until around age 18).

Don't be too concerned about that loose skin right now. Do some toning workouts to firm your muscles and that may help some of that skin get tighter as well. Give it time.
Reply:yes
Reply:good for you. at your age you will not have to worry.

just keep the weight off...and Alah be praised!
Reply:since you're only 15, you have plenty of time to 'grow into' that skin - your skin's elasticity should return in time. The loose skin is a result of your body not being able to keep up with losing all that weight so fast. One thing you can do is add some lean muscle which may help fill it out better in certain areas.
Reply:Oh my sweet baby jesus that is horrible how can you live being like that holy **** I think you should shave off the extra skin. Ah ha ha I'm just kidding......(for legal reasons)

Loose skin?

So the skin is supposed to bounce back to it's natural size after losing weight, right? Well, what if you've been heavy for the majority of your life and you have fat rolls on your waist? I would think that when you've lost all your weight that you would still have a bit of flab left over...

Am I right or wrong? Or does it depend on the type of fat the person has.

Like soft %26amp; jiggly, or hard %26amp; solid fat.

Loose skin?
The hard solid fat you don't see. You see the loose jiggly stuff.

When a heavy person loses weight the right way (healthy eating and exercise) the weight will come off slowly and the skin has "time" to adjust to the change.

When the weight is lost by bad means (gastric bypass, crash dieting, etc.), it comes off too quickly and the skin will sag.
Reply:well, the way and tiem it took u to lose that wight has to do with the condition of ur skin now. it has to do with amount of toxic ur body was holding and ur lemph system aint always able to put up with teh speed of weghit lose so fat cells that hold the toxic stuck under ur skin. tahst why while ur doing ur diet and excersie u shodul drink tonns of water and have dry massage and sauna to make sure ur body is draining all the tocix and liquids that woudl stick and later coz whats knwo as accesive skin. now the damage is done the recovery takes harsher solutions( surgery and lipo sucksion )the good news is since u v been in diet the fat is in liquid statuse now that makes lipo sucksion very possible.

god luck
Reply:Skin that has been overly streched won't go all the way back. The only solution is cosmetic surgery if that's the case. That's why most people who have had bariatric surgery also get body lifts.

You can help the skin tone by drinking lots of water and wearing supportive garments, but if you overdid it by a lot in the past you probably will have to have surgery or learn to like your new body the way it is.

Loose skin?

i have lost weight. how long does it take for the skin to re-tract???

Loose skin?
well,, probably never,, skin isnt that elastic, depends on how fat you were, how much weight you lost,
Reply:depends on how much you have lost...if you were significantly overweight theres a chance your skin will not tighten back up

Loose skin?

What is it called when someone looses weight to quickly and their skin doesn't have elasticity anymore so they are stuck with it? Is there a name for that?

Loose skin?
I don't know of a specific term for it other than "excess skin."

As I understand it, you're never stuck with it -- the skin will eventually come back in most cases. Remember, skin is very elastic; think of how a woman's stomach skin comes back after pregnancy.

There's also surgery for it:

http://www.emedicinehealth.com/excess_sk...
Reply:skin has resiliance it'll tighten up.

unless they have a debilitating disease.
Reply:Well the older you get the less elastic your skin is. Loosing excess amount of weight (obese) then yes you will have some skin that will be excessively flabby. You see it all the time on these medical make over shows on Discovery Health Channel.

Loose skin?

Hi I'm 19 years of age, ive been chubby since i was about twelve,in the last few years i've gained a bit of weight, i'm 6 ft tall and weigh about 222 pounds so i need to lose 47 pounds, i have joined a gym, and plan to lose the weight, will i get loose skin?

Loose skin?
Very doubtful. Skin at your age has alot of elasticity, plus its not like you are losing half your body wait. The muscle will also help. Best of luck!
Reply:as you are only 19, more than likely your skin will return to normal, just get stuck into weight training
Reply:You have taken the first step to a healthier body and I congratulate you. If you lose weight gradually, your skin will not appear to be loose. The lost of fats and water content could sag your skin somewhat but with regular daily exercise, your muscles will help to tone the skin.

Loose skin?

I am a 5 foot 11', 32 year old man weighing 240 pounds. If I loose 80 pounds, will I have have excess skin around my tummy?

Loose skin?
Not sure what your body fat % level is at. So I'll give 2 examples here:

If you have alot of body fat, you might want to add some sort of weight training and core workout into your weight loss program to promote muscular development throughout your body...thus preventing you from having "skinny man's gut"

If you have a low body fat%, you should be fine, just make sure you stay on top of your abs workout while losing the weight.

Easy one there.
Reply:If you lose weight the correct way by losing 2-3 pounds a week then you skin should shrink with your waistline.

Loose Skin!!!!?

im 15 and i lost like 20 pounds but now im left with some loose skin on mi lower abs what shuld i do abt it?

Loose Skin!!!!?
Cream, massage and to have a nice tan are the only solutions..... (if not surgery...)

OR you could fill out the loose skin with more muscles!
Reply:Exercise is the best solution. If you tone up that area, you won't notice the saggy skin as much. If you had lost more that 20 lbs, say 100lbs, then you would have to have surgery to remove the excess skin, but with just 20 lbs, exercise should help.
Reply:well actully i dont know maybe the other guy is right though more muscle might help but dont do plastic surgery i know people dont die but few do and there are some sytoms after the surgery too so dont do plastic surgery im only giving u advice u should just exercise more but that doesnt mean starve ur self just exercise a little

Loose skin....?

i had my son 11 months ago and i was wondering has anyone done a body wrap? were the results permanent or do you have to keep doing wraps, someone told me that if you do it that it should stay permament. i dont have to much loose skin...does anyone know??

Loose skin....?
I had three done a few years ago, so to answer, mine did not stay permanent. They made the skin tighter for a while and I also lost inches but it did not stay that way. Hope this helps.
Reply:i tried one a few weeks ago it still is the same check it out on the net.
Reply:a tummy tuck is the only permanent solution. I had my son 7 years ago and daughter 3 years ago andhave loose skin that is not going anywhere. My body is not gonna suck it up no matter how much I "wrap". I am in pretty good shape too. People I don't even know at work will ask me what I do for exercise and then tell me I look great. Obviously I am not wearing something that shows my abdomen at the time.
Reply:ab roller works great, walking and swimming too
